ACG Systems Secures Contract to Maintain Alabama’s Critical NOAA Weather Radio Network
ACG Systems (ACG) has been awarded a contract to provide crucial maintenance and support for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) All-Hazards Weather Radio (NWR) network across Alabama. This essential work supports the primary means by which the National Weather Service (NWS) disseminates life-saving forecasts and warnings to the state’s residents.
The contract focuses on providing preventative and corrective maintenance for the existing infrastructure at NWR transmitter equipment sites located throughout Alabama. ACG’s comprehensive maintenance services include:
- Performing preventative maintenance inspections at each of the sites
- Providing unscheduled corrective maintenance services on an as-needed basis to repair, calibrate, and test systems
- Routine remote monitoring and checking transmitters
- Providing program management, logistics, planning, monthly reporting, and on-call support
Completion and Impact
This maintenance agreement allows ACG to support the continued reliable operation of the NWR network in Alabama. The smooth operation of these transmitters ensures that the NWS can effectively broadcast warnings and forecasts. It is estimated that over 95 percent of Alabama’s population is within the service area of an NWR transmitter. ACG’s maintenance support will directly contribute to the resiliency and reliability of this critical public safety network, helping to ensure timely and accurate information reaches the public when severe weather strikes.
