ACG Systems Successfully Completes Southwest Airlines NOC Eventide Recording Project

Overview

ACG Systems, a long-standing partner of Southwest Airlines, has successfully completed the replacement of the existing, end-of-life NICE Recording System at the Southwest Airlines Network Operations Control (NOC) Facility in Dallas, Texas.

Project Details

The technology investment by Southwest Airlines involved the installation of the Eventide NexLog 740 DX Recorder at the Southwest Airlines NOC Facility. The Eventide NexLog DX-Series System was designed to replace the current recorder and was integrated with Southwest Airlines’ Avtec Scout Console. Each recorder connects to and records up to 600 Primary VoIP Channels with integration to Avtec’s VP-Gate for access to all communication devices including their IP-based VHF-AM air/ground radio network. This solution also provides a backup system to simultaneously record all audio in parallel with the core system at their backup facility (ROC).

The system design includes four Linux-based servers, licensing for up to 1,200 VoIP lines, an integrated 7” Color Touch Screen Display, a web-based configuration manager, audio controls, speakers on the front panel, and dual power supplies, all in a 3U rack-mountable chassis.

Completion and Impact

The project was completed by the end of June 2024, as scheduled by the ACG Engineering team and Vista our local subcontractor, and included working closely with the SWA NOC technical team. The successful implementation of the Eventide NexLog 740 DX Recorder has enhanced the recording capabilities at the Southwest Airlines NOC Facility, ensuring reliable and efficient radio and telephone communication management.
